Cestria's Staff are Shining Stars

21/06/2010

Staff from a Chester-le-Street based social landlord have been commended for going above and beyond their core duties in an awards ceremony.

More than 100 staff attended Cestria Community Housing’s Shining Stars Evening of Entertainment awards ceremony at Beamish Hall Hotel in County Durham.

The annual event celebrates the achievements that the organisation has made since it formed in 2008 and acknowledges the hard work of staff within the organisation.

More than a dozen awards were presented to individual members of staff and teams on the night including a ‘Delivering Service Excellence Award’ which was picked up by Malcolm Thompson, Technical Services Manager for overseeing the Decent Homes programme. Arshia Bhatti won the ‘Equalities Campaigner Award’ for her tireless work in ensuring that the association is following correct equalities and diversity policies.  John Bates and Tracey Steele shared the ‘Most Valued Colleague Award’ for their dedication to provide an excellent service and help all staff at any time.

John Bates who works in the Customer Services Team also won an award for his contribution to Cestria for being an outstanding member of staff. He said: “I am honoured to win this award. I have worked at Cestria Community Housing for more than ten years and there is a real sense of team spirit right across the organisation.”

Winners are voted by their fellow colleagues throughout the year and each winner was presented with a certificate for their achievements. The event was hosted by TV presenter Eric Robson.

Ian Broughton, Cestria Community Housing’s Chief Executive, said: “The success of an organisation is down to its people. Everybody within the organisation - in all departments and at all levels has played a key role in this year’s achievements. I would like to offer my congratulations to all winners but also to all members of staff who help us to continually improve and deliver services to our customers.”

Eric Robson said: “I have worked with Cestria Community Housing on a number of different projects and it’s satisfying to see the progress that has been made since transfer. Sometimes a lot of hard work that members of staff achieve for an organisation goes unnoticed but I congratulate all of Cestria’s staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment.”

Other winners on the evening included: Creative Thinker Award (Andrew Carlton); Customer Champion Award (Natalie Reed and Robert Clark); Working with Others Award (Andy Bates and George Turley); Continuous Improver Team Award (Allocations and Income Management); Rising Star Award (Paul Bainbridge, Susan Wilson, Suzanne Humphries, Lewis Reynolds and Rebecca Gimby); Learning Award (Ann Hall); Sharing Award (Leanne Bousfield and Vickie Johnson); Leading Award (Christine Scott) and Caring Award (Cestria Care).
